Hi everyone. Excited to get going on this adorable jumper. I make my little grandchildren Christmas outfits every year so this year for my only grand daughter, I will be making this. So far I have only casted on and accomplished 8 rows bust anxious to do more. Love it!

Sorry for the late start. I’ve been trying to learn ‘provisional cast-on’. Now I’ve cast on with my scrap yarn and your instruction says to purl a row. Do I do that with the scrap yarn? What do I do with the last loop on the crochet hook?

  13. Melody Wertz
    |

I already messed up my picot folded hem. Pattern says to purl one row and then Change to MC yarn. When I tried to cut off waste yarn the whole thing fell apart. Should the purl row be with main color?

What happened to the Knit-A-Long for the Emily Dress? The start had been postponed to today on Kntting Paradise.

    |

Hi Melody, please check this video that will help you with the folded hem
    https://youtu.be/1H0v8Pn7fFY
and yes, you have to start with a piece of waste yarn and work a purl row, then change to MC color and continue, please continue posting your questions here, the KAL is officially open!

  18. lilia Vanini
    |

Ho Lorraine, you don’t work with crochet hook, you will do all with your needles, please see the video https://youtu.be/1H0v8Pn7fFY

    Hello again Lilia,
I hope I’ve got the right place now. I have knitted the front up to the setup for Yoke, and having trouble with the math of the 1st setup row. I don’t end up with 7 stitches left at the end, and I only repeat the (K7, K2tog) 9 times. Is there a miscalculation? I am knitting Size 12 months.

  22. lilia Vanini
    |

Hi Lorraine, Im here, please give me one minute to check the pattern, I will right back to you

  23. lilia Vanini
    |

    hi Lorraine, you’re right, there is a mistake, the formula is BO3, (k10, k2tog)7times, k3. 80 sts
let me know if this work correctly please, the most important is that you have to have your 80sts to continue
    let me know

  24. Melody Wertz
    |

Just curious if this mistake will affect the other sizes? I am making a size 2-4.

  25. Lorraine Barrett
    |

Yes, thank you Lilia, it works. Now I’ve finished those two setup rows, it’s on to the actual Yoke. On the first row after Setup, we now appear to use the CC in the middle of the row, but there were no instructions on how to get there. Do we bring the CC along the back, and then once there, should we have brought the MC across the back for the other side? Please let me know. Only got 2 rows done in a few days because of the previous error & now this. Thank you!

  26. lilia Vanini
    |

Not, do not worry, each size have their own calculation, the most important thing is that you have the final number of sts, the number in bold at end of the row, this mistake was just about the math, my mistake, but at end what works is to have the number of sts that is required for that size, in that case Lorraine is working size 12, I will made a post with ERRATAS, with all corrections, so this way you can check there often, the post will be here too on the post comments, with this name ERRATA FOR EMILY DRESS and I will add the corrections in case there are more.
How you doing? do you have any questions for me? let me know, Im here every day around this hour!

  27. lilia Vanini
    |

Hi Lorraine, ok, I understand your question and is a very good question, I did not make a note on the pattern because it was normal for me, but I have to understand that knitters can ask about this little details, what works better and is more clean is to Join CC yarn, I mean, break CC yarn on the last stripe and weave in end, then please join CC to start working on the yoke section, this way you won’t have any trouble
let me know if this works good for you

  28. lilia Vanini

    Hi Lilia
I have been able to redo it but I did not purl with the waste yarn. That did not work for me. I purled with MC and it worked just fine. I love the picot hem. It is darling.

Hi there, just posted your picture too, adorable colors and please continue with the good knitting!

  45. Lorraine Barrett
    |

    Hi Lilia,
I’m find a little confusion with WSB, compared to RSB. Each definition says ‘wyif’, only difference being right side is slip stitches are either k or p depending on right side or wrong side.
What I don’t understand is: 1) Is your definition of ‘wyif’ bring the yarn towards me? That’s my understanding; and 2) Why is there a ‘wyif’ at the end of the row for WSB? Is this correct?
Hoping I explained clearly, and that you can help.

  46. Lorraine Barrett
    |

    Lilia?

  47. lilia Vanini
    |

Im here Im here!!! so sorry, it was so complicated days, I tell you more later, now please let me check your message!

  48. lilia Vanini
    |

ok, got your question and I will be happy to explain, yes! wyif means with yarn in front, that means you bring yarn in front near of you, if the instructions says wyib, that is with yarn in back and you will have your yarn behind your work.
The instructions to work WSB are correct and you first have to slip one stitch with your yarn in front, knit 1 and slip next stitch again with yarn in front, this way you will create a beautiful clean border
Let me know if you have more questions about this and sorry again for the delay, I was totally involved and busy with my apartment building, I help the administration each time Im here in Lima, with small problems, I love to help as when I come back to Italy I know that everything is in order here

  49. lilia Vanini
    |

How you doing? any questions for me? Im here, Im here!!!
wish you a great week and happy knitting!

  50. Lorraine Barrett
    |

Thank you, Lilia. That helps a lot. I was reading the instructions incorrectly, and not watching out for those tricky comas (,). Plus, it’s good to understand the meaning of ‘in front’ to avoid confusion. Thx again.

  51. Lorraine Barrett
    |

Now another question: When we work the rows of the yoke, with the MC, CC, then MC again, should we be twisting the yarn when moving from one colour to the next. I notice someone reporting on their KAL progress on KP & they are doing them as 3 separate pieces.

  52. lilia Vanini
    |

Hi Lorraine, yes! is better you twisted, looks better and is more comfy to continue knitting, Im not doing the KAL in KP, are you sure the comment is about Emily Baby Dress? please me know please because maybe I miss a comment and maybe they want help
    continue with the good work!

  54. lilia Vanini
    |

Hi Lorraine, why you have the sides separate from the front? you’re making something wrong, do we need a tutorial? let me know

  55. lilia Vanini
    |

hi there, how you doing? let us know!

  56. Lorraine Barrett
    |

Hi Lilia, I’m NOT the one doing the sides separate. The person who started the KP post above is the one doing it that way, not me. You asked me to copy the KP request from the person for you, so I did so.

  57. lilia Vanini
    |

Oh! so sorry about that, what a confusion, yes! is my fault because at beginning I promote the KAL on KP, I will contact her then to see what she is doing, thank you Lorraine
if you have any questions for me, Im here for another hour
    Thank you again

  58. Melody Wertz

Hi Lilia. I am sorry I haven’t been able to knit this week because I am babysitting grandchildren. Hope to start back up soon.

    THank you and Happy Knitting!

  60. Lorraine Barrett
    |

    Hello again Lilia,
I picked up my Emily dress after a long break. Now something doesn’t look right on Pg8, Row 31, in the middle section of the row. It has 49sts in that section, and the (K3, K2tog) 12t,K1) does not work out. It would required 61 stitches to complete.
Can you please check this & let me know?
    Many thanks.

  61. lilia Vanini
    |

    Hi there, is (k2, k2tog)12times, k1. 37sts
I will add this revision to final pdf
as soon you finish I will send you a new pdf to you and the other lady that is participating
please let me know if you have any other questions, I will be here for another 2 hours
    thank you so much
    Lilia

  62. lilia Vanini
    |

Hiya knitters, just a quick update, until now we have this revisions, please take a look

    ERRATA FOR EMILY BABY DRESS
Please check this post for all corrections and revisions, will appear here and don’t worry, at end of KAL each participant will have a revised pdf pattern brand new, ok, let’s start:

    FRONT YOKE CORRECTION FOR 12mo:
    **Set up rows:
    Next row: continue with MC yarn, BO 3sts, (k10, k2tog)7t, k3. 80sts

On Page 5 of pattern, second paragraph should start with this:
Row 93 to row 96: continue in pattern

    on Page 8, size 12

  63. Lorraine Barrett

Hi Lilia, a question from me again:
    On Page 9, Size 12, Back – instructs to work from ** to ** from Front Yoke;
    on Page 7, for Size 12, Front – the ** appears to be correct, indicating where to start for Back yoke;
on Page 8, for Size 12, Front – the ** showing where to stop for Back yoke, indicates to stop just before the repeat of Rows 7 & 8 (which actually means Rows 9 & 10), which means don’t knit them for the Back yoke.
Shouldn’t that ** be moved to after the repeat of Rows 7 & 8 to make it 10 rows? The next step on Page 9 instructs to repeat Rows 5 to 10, but following your instructions to stop before the repeat of rows 7 & 8, the first section would not contain Rows 9 & 10 in the first pass.

  64. Lorraine Barrett
    |

Lilia, I haven’t heard from you in response to my question here, posted above on June 26th, but I plugged along assuming the ** were meant to be placed ‘after’ Rows 7&8 to make them inclusive and I was right.
Now that I have completed the Back and joined the Shoulder, I thought I should point out to you that the total stitches to “slice” on to a holder should be ’33’, not ’37’.

  65. Lorraine Barrett
    |

Another question!! Can you please send us instruction on what to do with the 4+1 buttons that we bought for this project? They are listed in the ‘Notions’ section, but no description is provided for their use. Perhaps I’m missing a page? There is also no statement appearing on sewing up the sides, which I realize is easy enough to know how to do, but could be an indication that a page is missing perhaps.

  66. lilia Vanini
    |

Hi there, no buttons for this project, sorry about that, and yes! you have to sew sides, I think that is clear to understand but I will add a note on the pdf patter, I will give you one brand new pattern with all these revisions, now let me check about the 33 sts, I will get back to you in a minute

  67. Lorraine Barrett
    |

Can you remove the requirement for buttons in the Notions section of the pattern then? Very confusing. Hopefully I will use them in another project.

  68. lilia Vanini
    |

Sure Lorraine, you will receive a brand new pattern with all revisions, don’t worry, I will work with you until end of project
