Yarn
30 yards of worsted weight yarn
Needles
US 8 /5mm needles
US 2.5mm crochet hook
Notions
One button 1.5” (3.5cm)
Yarn needle
Gauge:
18 stitches & 24 rows in stocking stitch, using 5mm needles = 4” (10cm)

Notes
C8F: slip 4sts onto cable needle, hold them in front, k4, k4 from cable needle
ch: chain
sc: single crochet
sl st: slip stitch

Instructions:
CO 16 sts using 5mm needles.
Row 1 (RS): p1, knit all
Row 2 (WS): p1, k3, p8, k4
Repeat Row 1 and Row 2, three times more.
Row 9: p1, k3, C8F (see instructions on Notes, page 2), k4
Row 10 and all even rows: p1, k3, p8, k4
Row 11: p1, k all
Row 13: p1, k all
Row 15: p1, k3, C8F (see instructions on Notes, page 2), k4
Repeat row 10 to row 15 until you have 8.25” (21cm), finish in WS
BO and weave in ends.
Finishing and Button
In any corner of one side, using your crochet hook, ch2, work 1sc along the border
Turn your work, sl st to middle of border,
ch10, work 1sc in each of the ch10, sl st in the first chain, sl st to end of border, fasten off, cut yarn and weave in end
Work one row of single crochet on the other border too.
Attach the button in the opposite side
